GIMP in Breadstick

Breadstick note

GIMP's plug-ins run as programs of their own. Since Breadstick's Linux packages 1.0.18, GIMP gets the shared memory Android does not give apps, in Desktop and Floating mode alike, so it shares image data with its plug-ins directly; Breadstick turns this on only after a quick check passes on the device.

Breadstick runs Debian's own gimp package for ARM64, the build a Debian 13 computer with an ARM processor installs, so GIMP should look and behave as it does on a Linux PC. On Samsung DeX, Floating mode opens it as its own window beside your Android apps, and Desktop mode runs it on a full Linux desktop.

Breadstick draws in software rather than on the GPU, so painting, photo editing and diagrams are fine, while 3D modeling and rendering are slow. More about graphics apps in Breadstick.

About GIMP

From the project's description

GIMP is an acronym for GNU Image Manipulation Program. It is a freely distributed program for such tasks as photo retouching, image composition and image authoring.

It has many capabilities. It can be used as a simple paint program, an expert quality photo retouching program, an online batch processing system, a mass production image renderer, an image format converter, etc.

GIMP is expandable and extensible. It is designed to be augmented with plug-ins and extensions to do just about anything. The advanced scripting interface allows everything from the simplest task to the most complex image manipulation procedures to be easily scripted. GIMP is available for Linux, Microsoft Windows and OS X.

From the project's AppStream metadata in Debian's gimp package, under CC0-1.0.
