FFmpeg in Breadstick
Breadstick note
FFmpeg runs on the device's processor: Linux apps get no hardware video encoding or decoding here, so converting a long video takes a while. With Device files granted, your Android Camera and Downloads folders appear in your Linux home folder.
Breadstick runs Debian's own ffmpeg package for ARM64, the build a Debian 13 computer with an ARM processor installs, so FFmpeg should behave as it does on a Linux PC. It is a command line program rather than an app with a window of its own: you run it by typing its command in Breadstick's Terminal, or in any terminal window on the Linux desktop, and it needs no Desktop or Floating session running.
Commands in the package
ffmpegffplayffprobeqt-faststart
Type one in Breadstick's Terminal to run it.
Audio and video tools run on the device's processor: Linux apps get no hardware video encoding or decoding, so converting a long video takes a while. Sound plays through the device's own audio output. More in the docs: The Terminal.
About FFmpeg
From Debian's package description
FFmpeg is the leading multimedia framework, able to decode, encode, transcode, mux, demux, stream, filter and play pretty much anything that humans and machines have created. It supports the most obscure ancient formats up to the cutting edge.
This package contains:
- ffmpeg: a command line tool to convert multimedia files between formats
- ffplay: a simple media player based on SDL and the FFmpeg libraries
- ffprobe: a simple multimedia stream analyzer
- qt-faststart: a utility to rearrange Quicktime files
From Debian's description of the ffmpeg package, under that package's license.
