megan

Interactive exploration and analysis of large-scale microbiome sequencing data

megan in Breadstick

Breadstick runs Debian's own megan-ce package for ARM64, the build a Debian 13 computer with an ARM processor installs, so megan should look and behave as it does on a Linux PC. On Samsung DeX, Floating mode opens it as its own window beside your Android apps, and Desktop mode runs it on a full Linux desktop.

Everything runs on the device's own processor, with no GPU compute, and instruments attached over USB are not visible to Linux apps. More about science apps in Breadstick.

About megan

From the project's description

Megan-ce is a shotgun sequencer to analyze microbiome samples. It is a rewritte and extension of the widely-used microbiome analysis tool MEGAN so as to facilitate the interactive analysis of the taxonomic and functional content of very large microbiome datasets. Other new features include a functional classifier called InterPro2GO, gene-centric read assembly, principal coordinate analysis of taxonomy and function, and support for metadata.

By integrating MEGAN CE with the high-throughput DNA-to-protein alignment tool DIAMOND a powerful and complete pipeline for the analysis of metagenome shotgun sequences can be provided.
