opus-tools in Breadstick

Breadstick runs Debian's own opus-tools package for ARM64, the build a Debian 13 computer with an ARM processor installs, so opus-tools should behave as it does on a Linux PC. It is a command line program rather than an app with a window of its own: you run it by typing its command in Breadstick's Terminal, or in any terminal window on the Linux desktop, and it needs no Desktop or Floating session running.

Commands in the package

  • opusenc
  • opusdec
  • opusinfo

Type one in Breadstick's Terminal to run it.

Audio and video tools run on the device's processor: Linux apps get no hardware video encoding or decoding, so converting a long video takes a while. Sound plays through the device's own audio output. More in the docs: The Terminal.

About opus-tools

From Debian's package description

This package provides the reference implementations of encoder and decoder utilities for libopus. People implementing their own support for Opus are encouraged to check their code for interoperability with these tools.
