autoconf in Breadstick

Breadstick runs Debian's own autoconf package for ARM64, the build a Debian 13 computer with an ARM processor installs, so autoconf should behave as it does on a Linux PC. It is a command line program rather than an app with a window of its own: you run it by typing its command in Breadstick's Terminal, or in any terminal window on the Linux desktop, and it needs no Desktop or Floating session running.

Commands in the package

  • autoconf
  • autoheader
  • autom4te
  • autoreconf
  • autoscan
  • autoupdate
  • ifnames

Type one in Breadstick's Terminal to run it.

Compilers and build tools make ARM64 Linux programs on the device itself, with Debian's own toolchain. A big build uses the device's processor and memory, so it takes longer than on a desktop PC, and each parallel job is another process, which counts against the limit Android puts on apps. More in the docs: Troubleshooting: the desktop closes on its own.

About autoconf

From Debian's package description

The standard for FSF source packages. This is only useful if you write your own programs or if you extensively modify other people's programs.

For an extensive library of additional Autoconf macros, install the `autoconf-archive' package.

This version of autoconf is not compatible with scripts meant for Autoconf 2.13 or earlier.
