bat in Breadstick

Breadstick runs Debian's own bat package for ARM64, the build a Debian 13 computer with an ARM processor installs, so bat should behave as it does on a Linux PC. It is a command line program rather than an app with a window of its own: you run it by typing its command in Breadstick's Terminal, or in any terminal window on the Linux desktop, and it needs no Desktop or Floating session running.

Commands in the package

  • batcat

Type it in Breadstick's Terminal to start the program.

Search tools read your Linux home folder and, once Device files is granted, your Android folders, which appear there too. Searching is much faster in your Linux home folder than in Android's shared folders. More in the docs: The Terminal.

About bat

From Debian's package description

bat is a drop-in cat(1) replacement featuring:

  • syntax highlighting for a large number of languages;
  • git integration;
  • automatic paging;
  • a user-friendly command-line interface.

In this package the executable and its manpage have been renamed from ‘bat’ to ‘batcat’ because of a file name clash with another Debian package.

From Debian's description of the bat package, under that package's license.
