fd in Breadstick

Breadstick runs Debian's own fd-find package for ARM64, the build a Debian 13 computer with an ARM processor installs, so fd should behave as it does on a Linux PC. It is a command line program rather than an app with a window of its own: you run it by typing its command in Breadstick's Terminal, or in any terminal window on the Linux desktop, and it needs no Desktop or Floating session running.

Commands in the package

  • fdfind

Type it in Breadstick's Terminal to start the program.

Search tools read your Linux home folder and, once Device files is granted, your Android folders, which appear there too. Searching is much faster in your Linux home folder than in Android's shared folders. More in the docs: The Terminal.

About fd

From Debian's package description

While it does not seek to mirror all of find's powerful functionality, fd provides sensible (opinionated) defaults for 80% of the use cases.

Features:

  • Convenient syntax: ‘fd PATTERN’ instead of ‘find -iname '*PATTERN*'’.
  • Colorized terminal output (similar to ls).
  • It's fast, often faster than find.
  • Smart case.
  • Ignores hidden directories and files, by default.
  • Ignores patterns from your .gitignore, by default.
  • Regular expressions.
  • Unicode-awareness.
  • Parallel command execution with a syntax similar to GNU Parallel.

Please note: the executable and the associated manpage were renamed from ‘fd’ to ‘fdfind’ because of a file name clash.
