dos2unix in Breadstick

Breadstick runs Debian's own dos2unix package for ARM64, the build a Debian 13 computer with an ARM processor installs, so dos2unix should behave as it does on a Linux PC. It is a command line program rather than an app with a window of its own: you run it by typing its command in Breadstick's Terminal, or in any terminal window on the Linux desktop, and it needs no Desktop or Floating session running.

Commands in the package

  • dos2unix
  • mac2unix
  • unix2dos
  • unix2mac

Type one in Breadstick's Terminal to run it.

Text and data tools work on files and pipes in the Terminal as on any Linux system, including files in your Android folders once Device files is granted. More in the docs: The Terminal.

About dos2unix

From Debian's package description

This package contains utilities dos2unix, unix2dos, mac2unix, unix2mac to convert the line endings of text files between UNIX (LF), DOS (CRLF) and Mac (CR) formats.

Text files under Windows and DOS typically have two ASCII characters at the end of each line: CR (carriage return) followed by LF (line feed). Older Macs used just CR, while UNIX uses just LF. While most modern editors can read all these formats, there may still be a need to convert files between them.

This is the classic utility developed in 1989.
