global in Breadstick

Breadstick runs Debian's own global package for ARM64, the build a Debian 13 computer with an ARM processor installs, so global should behave as it does on a Linux PC. It is a command line program rather than an app with a window of its own: you run it by typing its command in Breadstick's Terminal, or in any terminal window on the Linux desktop, and it needs no Desktop or Floating session running.

Commands in the package

  • global
  • globash
  • gozilla
  • gtags
  • gtags-cscope
  • htags
  • htags-server

Type one in Breadstick's Terminal to run it.

Linters, formatters and language servers run on the device's own processor, and editors on the Linux desktop or in the Terminal can call them as they would on a Linux PC. More in the docs: The Terminal.

About global

From Debian's package description

GNU GLOBAL is a source code tag system that works the same way across diverse environments. Currently, it supports the following:

  • command line, and the 'globash' query subshell.
  • vim plugin, and support for other vi clones.
  • less
  • emacs
  • web browser

Supported languages are C, C++, yacc and Java. You can locate a specified function in the source files and move there easily. It is especially useful for hacking large projects containing many subdirectories, many '#ifdef' and many main() functions, like X or kernel source.

Doxygen now supports using global as its source browser, with the USE_HTAGS option.

From Debian's description of the global package, under that package's license.
