pylint in Breadstick

Breadstick runs Debian's own pylint package for ARM64, the build a Debian 13 computer with an ARM processor installs, so pylint should behave as it does on a Linux PC. It is a command line program rather than an app with a window of its own: you run it by typing its command in Breadstick's Terminal, or in any terminal window on the Linux desktop, and it needs no Desktop or Floating session running.

Commands in the package

  • pylint
  • pylint-config
  • pyreverse
  • symilar

Type one in Breadstick's Terminal to run it.

Linters, formatters and language servers run on the device's own processor, and editors on the Linux desktop or in the Terminal can call them as they would on a Linux PC. More in the docs: The Terminal.

About pylint

From Debian's package description

Pylint is a Python source code analyzer which looks for programming errors, helps enforcing a coding standard and sniffs for some code smells (as defined in Martin Fowler's Refactoring book)

Pylint can be seen as another PyChecker since nearly all tests you can do with PyChecker can also be done with Pylint. However, Pylint offers some more features, like checking length of lines of code, checking if variable names are well-formed according to your coding standard, or checking if declared interfaces are truly implemented, and much more.

Additionally, it is possible to write plugins to add your own checks.

The package also ships the following additional commands:

  • pyreverse: an UML diagram generator
  • symilar: an independent similarities checker
  • epylint: Emacs and Flymake compatible Pylint

From Debian's description of the pylint package, under that package's license.
