maven in Breadstick

Breadstick runs Debian's own maven package for ARM64, the build a Debian 13 computer with an ARM processor installs, so maven should behave as it does on a Linux PC. The package itself has no program of its own: the commands below come from the packages it brings in, and you run them by typing them in Breadstick's Terminal, or in any terminal window on the Linux desktop, with no Desktop or Floating session needed.

Commands it gives you

  • mvn

Type it in Breadstick's Terminal to start the program.

Compilers and build tools make ARM64 Linux programs on the device itself, with Debian's own toolchain. A big build uses the device's processor and memory, so it takes longer than on a desktop PC, and each parallel job is another process, which counts against the limit Android puts on apps. More in the docs: Troubleshooting: the desktop closes on its own.

About maven

From Debian's package description

Maven is a software project management and comprehension tool. Based on the concept of a project object model (POM), Maven can manage a project's build, reporting and documentation from a central piece of information.

Maven's primary goal is to allow a developer to comprehend the complete state of a development effort in the shortest period of time. In order to attain this goal there are several areas of concern that Maven attempts to deal with:

  • Making the build process easy
  • Providing a uniform build system
  • Providing quality project information
  • Providing guidelines for best practices development
  • Allowing transparent migration to new features

From Debian's description of the maven package, under that package's license.
