pv in Breadstick

Breadstick runs Debian's own pv package for ARM64, the build a Debian 13 computer with an ARM processor installs, so pv should behave as it does on a Linux PC. It is a command line program rather than an app with a window of its own: you run it by typing its command in Breadstick's Terminal, or in any terminal window on the Linux desktop, and it needs no Desktop or Floating session running.

Commands in the package

  • pv

Type it in Breadstick's Terminal to start the program.

Workflow tools run inside the Terminal as on any Linux system. There is no systemd, so nothing starts in the background on its own: a job runs while something you started keeps it going. More in the docs: What Breadstick cannot do: the system itself.

About pv

From Debian's package description

pv (Pipe Viewer) can be inserted into any normal pipeline between two processes to give a visual indication of how quickly data is passing through, how long it has taken, how near to completion it is, and an estimate of how long it will be until completion.

To use it, insert it in a pipeline between two processes, with the appropriate options. Its standard input will be passed through to its standard output and progress will be shown on standard error.

From Debian's description of the pv package, under that package's license.
