ranger in Breadstick

Breadstick runs Debian's own ranger package for ARM64, the build a Debian 13 computer with an ARM processor installs, so ranger should behave as it does on a Linux PC. It is a command line program rather than an app with a window of its own: you run it by typing its command in Breadstick's Terminal, or in any terminal window on the Linux desktop, and it needs no Desktop or Floating session running.

Commands in the package

  • ranger
  • rifle

Type one in Breadstick's Terminal to run it.

File tools work with your Linux home folder and, once Device files is granted, with your Android folders, which appear there too. Listing and scanning are much faster in your Linux home folder than in Android's shared folders. More in the docs: The Terminal.

About ranger

From Debian's package description

Ranger is a console file manager with VI key bindings. It provides a minimalistic and nice curses interface with a view on the directory hierarchy. It ships with "rifle", a file launcher that is good at automatically finding out which program to use for what file type.

Design Goals

  • An easily maintainable file manager in a high level language
  • A quick way to switch directories and browse the file system
  • Keep it small but useful, do one thing and do it well
  • Console based, with smooth integration into the unix shell

From Debian's description of the ranger package, under that package's license.
