Not tested on a device yet. What that means
automake in Breadstick
Breadstick runs Debian's own automake package for ARM64, the build a Debian 13 computer with an ARM processor installs, so automake should behave as it does on a Linux PC. It is a command line program rather than an app with a window of its own: you run it by typing its command in Breadstick's Terminal, or in any terminal window on the Linux desktop, and it needs no Desktop or Floating session running.
Commands it gives you
automakeaclocalaclocal-1.17automake-1.17
Type one in Breadstick's Terminal to run it.
Compilers and build tools make ARM64 Linux programs on the device itself, with Debian's own toolchain. A big build uses the device's processor and memory, so it takes longer than on a desktop PC, and each parallel job is another process, which counts against the limit Android puts on apps. More in the docs: Troubleshooting: the desktop closes on its own.
About automake
From Debian's package description
Automake is a tool for automatically generating `Makefile.in's from files called `Makefile.am'.
The goal of Automake is to remove the burden of Makefile maintenance from the back of the individual GNU maintainer (and put it on the back of the Automake maintainer).
The `Makefile.am' is basically a series of `make' macro definitions (with rules being thrown in occasionally). The generated `Makefile.in's are compliant with the GNU Makefile standards.
From Debian's description of the automake package, under that package's license.
