autossh in Breadstick

Breadstick runs Debian's own autossh package for ARM64, the build a Debian 13 computer with an ARM processor installs, so autossh should behave as it does on a Linux PC. It is a command line program rather than an app with a window of its own: you run it by typing its command in Breadstick's Terminal, or in any terminal window on the Linux desktop, and it needs no Desktop or Floating session running.

Commands in the package

  • autossh
  • autossh-argv0
  • rscreen
  • rtmux
  • ruscreen

Type one in Breadstick's Terminal to run it.

Network tools use Android's own connection, and a VPN connected in Android covers them too. Anything that needs root, such as capturing traffic or changing the device's network settings, is not available. More in the docs: What Breadstick cannot do: raw network control.

About autossh

From Debian's package description

autossh is a program to start an instance of ssh and monitor it, restarting it as necessary should it die or stop passing traffic. The idea is from rstunnel (Reliable SSH Tunnel), but implemented in C. Connection monitoring is done using a loop of port forwardings. It backs off on the rate of connection attempts when experiencing rapid failures such as connection refused.
