redis-tools in Breadstick

Breadstick runs Debian's own redis-tools package for ARM64, the build a Debian 13 computer with an ARM processor installs, so redis-tools should behave as it does on a Linux PC. It is a command line program rather than an app with a window of its own: you run it by typing its command in Breadstick's Terminal, or in any terminal window on the Linux desktop, and it needs no Desktop or Floating session running.

Commands in the package

  • redis-cli
  • redis-benchmark
  • redis-check-aof
  • redis-check-rdb

Type one in Breadstick's Terminal to run it.

There is no systemd in Breadstick, so a database server does not start on its own: you start it by hand from the Terminal, and keep its data in your Linux home folder. Command line clients reach servers on the device or across the network. More in the docs: What Breadstick cannot do: the system itself.

About redis-tools

From Debian's package description

Redis is a key-value database in a similar vein to memcache but the dataset is non-volatile. Redis additionally provides native support for atomically manipulating and querying data structures such as lists and sets.

This package contains the command line client and other tools.
