Clang in Breadstick

Breadstick runs Debian's own clang package for ARM64, the build a Debian 13 computer with an ARM processor installs, so Clang should behave as it does on a Linux PC. It is a command line program rather than an app with a window of its own: you run it by typing its command in Breadstick's Terminal, or in any terminal window on the Linux desktop, and it needs no Desktop or Floating session running.

Commands in the package

  • clang
  • clang++
  • asan_symbolize

Type one in Breadstick's Terminal to run it.

Compilers and build tools make ARM64 Linux programs on the device itself, with Debian's own toolchain. A big build uses the device's processor and memory, so it takes longer than on a desktop PC, and each parallel job is another process, which counts against the limit Android puts on apps. More in the docs: Troubleshooting: the desktop closes on its own.

About Clang

From Debian's package description

Clang project is a C, C++, Objective C and Objective C++ front-end for the LLVM compiler. Its goal is to offer a replacement to the GNU Compiler Collection (GCC).

Clang implements all of the ISO C++ 1998, 11, 14 and 17 standards and also provides most of the support of C++20.

This is a dependency package providing the default clang compiler.
