Go in Breadstick
Breadstick note
Debian 13's Go is 1.24, and it builds native ARM64 programs on the device itself. Go keeps its module cache under ~/go in your Linux home folder, which is much faster than Android's shared folders for the thousands of files it holds.
Breadstick runs Debian's own golang-go package for ARM64, the build a Debian 13 computer with an ARM processor installs, so Go should behave as it does on a Linux PC. It is a command line program rather than an app with a window of its own: you run it by typing its command in Breadstick's Terminal, or in any terminal window on the Linux desktop, and it needs no Desktop or Floating session running.
Commands in the package
gogofmt
Type one in Breadstick's Terminal to run it.
Interpreters and runtimes run on the device's own ARM64 processor, from Debian's own packages. Keep projects in your Linux home folder, which is much faster than Android's shared folders for trees of many small files. Libraries with compiled parts need an ARM64 Linux build, or the tools to build one on the device. More in the docs: The Terminal.
About Go
From Debian's package description
The Go programming language is an open source project to make programmers more productive. Go is expressive, concise, clean, and efficient. Its concurrency mechanisms make it easy to write programs that get the most out of multicore and networked machines, while its novel type system enables flexible and modular program construction. Go compiles quickly to machine code yet has the convenience of garbage collection and the power of run-time reflection. It's a fast, statically typed, compiled language that feels like a dynamically typed, interpreted language.
This is a dependency package that depends on the default Go toolchain and compiled standard library. It is only built on architectures that have a native toolchain ("gc compiler"). Packages that want to build with whichever of gc or gccgo is available should depend on golang-any.
