Not tested on a device yet. What that means

npm in Breadstick

Breadstick runs Debian's own npm package for ARM64, the build a Debian 13 computer with an ARM processor installs, so npm should behave as it does on a Linux PC. It is a command line program rather than an app with a window of its own: you run it by typing its command in Breadstick's Terminal, or in any terminal window on the Linux desktop, and it needs no Desktop or Floating session running.

Commands in the package

  • npm
  • npx
  • arborist
  • npm-arborist
  • pacote
  • qrcode-terminal

Type one in Breadstick's Terminal to run it.

Interpreters and runtimes run on the device's own ARM64 processor, from Debian's own packages. Keep projects in your Linux home folder, which is much faster than Android's shared folders for trees of many small files. Libraries with compiled parts need an ARM64 Linux build, or the tools to build one on the device. More in the docs: The Terminal.

About npm

From Debian's package description

Node.js is an event-based server-side javascript engine.

npm is the package manager for the Node JavaScript platform. It puts modules in place so that node can find them, and manages dependency conflicts intelligently.

It is extremely configurable to support a wide variety of use cases. Most commonly, it is used to publish, discover, install, and develop node programs.

Install also node-opener to have full npm features enabled.
