rustup in Breadstick

Breadstick runs Debian's own rustup package for ARM64, the build a Debian 13 computer with an ARM processor installs, so rustup should behave as it does on a Linux PC. It is a command line program rather than an app with a window of its own: you run it by typing its command in Breadstick's Terminal, or in any terminal window on the Linux desktop, and it needs no Desktop or Floating session running.

Commands in the package

  • rustup
  • cargo
  • cargo-clippy
  • cargo-fmt
  • cargo-miri
  • clippy-driver
  • rls
  • rust-analyzer
  • rust-gdb
  • rust-lldb
  • rustc
  • rustdoc
  • rustfmt

Type one in Breadstick's Terminal to run it.

Interpreters and runtimes run on the device's own ARM64 processor, from Debian's own packages. Keep projects in your Linux home folder, which is much faster than Android's shared folders for trees of many small files. Libraries with compiled parts need an ARM64 Linux build, or the tools to build one on the device. More in the docs: The Terminal.

About rustup

From Debian's package description

Rustup installs The Rust Programming Language from the official release channels, enabling you to easily switch between stable, beta, and nightly compilers and keep them updated. It makes cross-compiling simpler with binary builds of the standard library for common platforms. And it runs on all platforms Rust supports, including Windows.

From Debian's description of the rustup package, under that package's license.
