speedtest-cli in Breadstick

Breadstick runs Debian's own speedtest-cli package for ARM64, the build a Debian 13 computer with an ARM processor installs, so speedtest-cli should behave as it does on a Linux PC. It is a command line program rather than an app with a window of its own: you run it by typing its command in Breadstick's Terminal, or in any terminal window on the Linux desktop, and it needs no Desktop or Floating session running.

Commands in the package

  • speedtest-cli
  • speedtest

Type one in Breadstick's Terminal to run it.

Downloads use Android's own network connection, and a VPN connected in Android covers them too. With Device files granted, a file saved to your Linux Downloads folder is in Android's Downloads too. More in the docs: The Terminal.

About speedtest-cli

From Debian's package description

Speedtest.net is a webservice that allows you to test your broadband connection by downloading a file from one of many Speedtest.net servers from around the world.

This utility allows you to use the Speedtest.net service from the command line.

Note: This tool accesses speedtest.net over http, while the web-based client uses websockets. This tool has shown to become increasingly inacurate with high-speed connections. For more information, see the readme on: https://github.com/sivel/speedtest-cli
